I began with the sky. I used a panel of mid-tone blue cardstock as my base. I ink blended with Distress inks to create a nighttime sky. Following a tip from Kelly Taylor, I started my ink blending towards the center with Faded Jeans, worked my way out to Black Soot, then worked back in to the Faded Jeans. This saturated the cardstock & gave me a really smooth blend. I left the center part of the cardstock uninked, to provide the effect of a twilight glow. To add the stars, I spattered first with water, then with the White Gold Starry Colors paint, & finally with white craft paint. That's another technique I recently learned from Kelly Taylor's bag of tricks.
I die cut all my hill & tree pieces from white cardstock. I also cut the backer piece for the trees from a dark grey. I glued the grey pieces to the backs of the trees, so that it shows through the little notches in the trunks.
I die cut the deer from smooth bristol paper. I colored them with my Tombow markers, using a damp paintbrush to pull out the color & add shading. I added their eyes with a black glaze pen, and the highlights to their noses & eyes with a white gel pen. I also die cut the cardinal from red cardstock, & colored his beak with a yellow colored pencil and his face with a black fine-tip marker.
To assemble everything, I first glued the back hill to my panel. I added most of the trees flat to the panel. I glued my standing deer in place. For 2 of the trees, I die cut 4 more of each, and glued those to the back. I glued the front side of the bottoms of those 2 trees to the back of my foreground hill, & added foam tape to the rest of the hill & more glue to the back of each tree. Then I adhered that to my card panel. I made sure to have one of those trees overlap the standing deer. I adhered my lying-down deer, gluing most of her flat to the hill piece, and adding a few bits of foam tape behind her head, to keep her level with the foreground.
I added my cardinal to the branch, creating a visual triangle among it & the 2 deer. Finally I added copious amounts of Ice Stickles in the color Crystal Ice to the snow, branches, & some to the tree trunks. I decided to leave the card without a greeting, so as not to distract from the scene.

This is a terrific winter scene! Thanks so much for the detailed description of your process! I love this card and will take away some tips from it for my own endeavours!
