I began by die cutting my snowflakes & peace word from watercolor paper. I then cut more watercolor paper for the background to 4-1/2x5-/34". I taped it to a non-stick craft mat, creating a 1/8" border on all sides. I added a dollop of gel medium to my mat, and thinned it with some water. I used a paintbrush to apply it to my panel.
Once I'd covered the panel, I added my die cuts, and painted more medium over them. Then I set that aside to dry.
After the gel medium had dried, I painted the panel with a coat of Copper paint. I dried that with my heat tool, being careful not to cook the paint. The color was a bit streaky, so I added a second coat. I dried that, then added a dry-brushed layer of Light Turquoise, to give a patina effect. After that dried, I went over the panel again with Vanilla Ice Cream paint, dry brushing just a bit here & there.
I removed the tape, and trimmed the panel to 4x5-1/4". I adhered it to a black cardstock panel, leaving a 1/16" black mat, and mounted that to a teal panel that I'd added to a white card base.
