MIX406 The Parable The Turkey Told
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Cook22

Ky's MIX challenge sounded interesting but kinda threw me. How do you tell a story in one picture. Last week I bought the most beautiful book called The Midnight Fair, which has no words at all, just pictures, but when it comes to telling a story on a card??? I thought of an LOTV snowman set I have that has 3 frames, cartoon style, but to make that mixed media was going to be over-egging the cake.
I'm needing two or three Thanksgiving cards to send to particular friends, so I decided that this turkey is standing under the tree saying that it takes more than a leaf to make a tree, it takes more than a note to make harmony, it takes more than feathers to make a turkey, it just takes two people to be friends.

The background is one of the cling-wrap backgrounds I made in the summer when they would dry quickly - Brushos powders and spray starch. The foreground is trimmed from a piece that had been coloured with Gelatos, so that's my two mediums nailed. I also added sparkle to all the notes in the tree with a clear Sakura Stardust pen.
The little turkey is cut from scraps, and I heat-embossed the sentiment with clear EP. Matted the panel on black and added to a white base.
In case you can't read it, the sentiment says "It's not what we have in live but who we hae in our life that matters".

`The wonderful merging of colors in G greatly highlight the detailed tree silhouette and turkey.

WHAT A SUPER CARD, Sabrina! LOVE your background & your story! Your turkey is SO CUTE! I'm SURE the recipient will LOVE THIS! I'm trying to figure out how you used the spray starch with the cling wrap..... LOL I remember the cling wrap technique, but it didn't include spray starch. It MUST do something SPECIAL, cause your background is OUTSTANDING! BIG INKY HUGS for your SWEET VISIT TOO, dear friend!!! ;)<3
