BINGO!!! A SHIM for Platinum6 with 3D Embossing Folders
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: rdm

Who has the wonderful Platinum6 die cut and embossing machine? I love mine and it's small footprint when folded up.
BUT ONE BIG PROBLEM I didn't learn about until after it was in my possession!!! 3D embossing folders won't work in the machine due to their greater thickness.
I spent an afternoon playing with combinations to find a homemade shim that would be sturdier and outlast chipboard shims. The picture is my final "Platinum6 3D Embossing Folder Shim". Following are details how I made it and my sandwich.

Material & Construction:
Material: A well used & loved Silhouette Cutting Mat.
Cut four pieces to 6"x6".
Remove all protective liner from the sticky surface.
Adhere all four pieces together (no tacky surfaces on the outside).
Your 3D shim is complete; round the corners off.

SANDWICH for Platinum6 with 3D Embossing Folder:
Bottom: Platinum6 platform
Middle: 3D Embossing Folder with inserted CS
Top: Homemade shim
NOTICE 3D EF with this shim does NOT use a silicone mat or plate.

SANDWICHES for standard Embossing Folders:
Follow instructions on the Platinum6 platform, use includes the silicone mat and one plate.

I know other materials could be used to create a "3D EF Shim". If you don't have access to a Silhouette Cutting Mat, experiment... but do NOT force anything into the rollers. My initial efforts with success used 2 pieces of chipboard.
