LeAnn is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has really challenged me with her colors: Shaded Spruce, Pretty Peacock and Bumblebee. The dessert option is a punch or die.
I used a new-to-me Penny Black set called Groovy Greenery. I love the white embossed vases against the gray paper.
I wanted to mask the front plants, but was concerned that those thin stems would tear, so I used a trick mentioned by Jennifer McGuire in a recent video. I stamped the images on masking paper, then covered the image with clear packing tape. Then I cut out the images and removed the backing. That worked perfectly--and the masks are sturdy enough to be reused many times!
I had a little trouble finding colored pencils that were different enough from each other to define the blue of Pretty Peacock contrasted with the green of Shaded Spruce. They seem so very similar to me. I selected colored pencils as close to those colors as I could. I hope you can see that the plant in the back is more like Pretty Peacock, while the front two are a combination of green and yellow (although I threw a little blue in there, too!).
I got in dessert with the frame die-cut, mounted on a panel of Shaded Spruce, and then onto a white card base. The greeting was also white heat embossed. That old set never goes out of style!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
