I created this card for the Messy, Mixed and Joyful challenge for October 1st.
I watched several videos on texture paste, check out the MMJ07 challenge. I'm new to pastes and stencils, so I wanted to see a variety of ways to use it.
I used a fern brass stencil and paste to create my background. When it was dry, I applied greens and bronze watercolors over it with a brush. I also added some shimmering watercolor.
I used a stencil and texture paste to create my acorn and oak leaves. When it was dry, I added copper embossing powder and heat set it, which made it puff up a bit. (If you don't let the paste dry completely, you'll get a lot of bubbles and puffiness, which could be cool too.) I added some brown watercolor to the acorn caps.
I used a brick stencil to add brown ink to the bottom of the panel. I stamped "Escape" onto panel. Which I think many of us would like to do with 2020.
I added some glittery ribbon, a strip of open weave brass-colored ribbon and some brown "fuzzy" threads. I had several containers of threads and ribbons scattered across the floor and experimented with many different ones before choosing these 3. What a mess!
Next, I added 3 round brads and a dragonfly brad. I glued down my acorns and leaves.
I thought I was done, but it needed more...always have to have some extra sparkle! I added some gold Stickles glitter to my fern. Now, I'm done...nope...I had to splatter some ink over the whole thing. (Including my wall, table and everything else...no time to get a box. LOL)
That's it...I think. tfl

Wholly molly this is absolutely gorgeous. The mixed media BG is incredible, the embellishing is beautifully laid out and the colors are so eye catching. I am in awe of the talent on this card. Thank you so much for playing along and bringing this beauty to the gallery.

I was looking at this last night and loving it. The texture in the fern, the wonderful colours. I find it hard to believe that the acorn and oak leaves are also paste, even though I've done the embossing thing. I couldn't find my copper ep the other day. I think this should be framed in a shadowbox.
