I kind of cheated....or maybe I came up with a new idea? I embossed my watercolor paper with the EF AFTER it was randomly painted with browns and yellows and a pale orange. This panel was already in my stash and really unappealing to me but I thought that trees might work. They were left alone color-wise, but I sanded them for lighter highlights. I added a little more brown and turquoise around the trees, sort of like the Negative Watercolor technique lesson a couple of weeks ago. This was fun as I watched it morphed.

I keep looking at your creation. It is so creative, and eye appealing. You thought out of the box, and it is so dreamy looking. Great negative painting to turn it into a forest of trees. The added sanding brings out the embossing more. Thanks so much for your explanation. Need to give this a try. So very glad you joined us with your interesting take on the challenge. Fav'd

This is so cool, Lori! However you approached, it really works. At first I thought the trees were Japanese lanterns. Love the different patterns on each.

Super!!! And, you used two of the Watercolor Wednesday techniques. Aren't you the clever, creative one? Yes! I love the colors and the trees. I don't think I've ever seen that folder.

This is stunning! I thought these were lanterns too but trees are stunning as well! Your watercolor layer has gorgeous colors and I love the idea of sanding off just a bit to get that added white!

I did not and still do not see trees in this pretty panel - The golden glow immediately put me in mind of oriental paper lanterns especially the way they look hanging crowded together in the covered outdoor shopping areas like Ginza. The light sanding really helped accentuate all the designs.

This has so much interest in it Lori. The folder is in itself interesting, but making the trees is creativity plus. Love that you are using previous techniques along with today's technique. Beautiful work.
