Did these yesterday morning but ran out of time to post.
Loved Anita's cut and mix challenge and needed a thank you card for my sweet Son-in-law who spent an afternoon cutting down giant broken limbs for us last week. He loves deer hunting so had to try out my new Stamperia Forest paper and die cuts (LOVE THEM). Teresa (aztk) made me buy this new paper as she showed me some amazing rice papers which lead me to this paper, and I couldn't resist - lol).
I used some old stash and SU! paper for my card frame, sponged around it and water distressed it to get the cool spots. Also wiped on the tiniest bit of white paint. Toned down the die cut shine with a tiny bit of gesso.
The journal page is my first successful try with mixed media crayons. I had bought a set of Dina Wakley pastels last year and everything I tried did not work. After watching the videos Kandie posted in the MMJ06 challenge, I finally figured out how to use them. Yay! Now I love them!!! Journal process:
*Coat of gesso
*Pastel blue crayon mixed with water over page
*Pastel green crayon mixed with water on edges
*SU! Old olive ink around the edge
*TH DI Vintage Photo ink around the edge
*water distressing
*Stamp trees in old olive
*Stamp words in vintage photo
*Pastel crayon left over splatter mixed with TH Vintage Photo
*White paint (just some little dabs)
*Stencil with Vintage Photo mixed with black soot
*Add Stamperia Die cut eagle (coated with gesso)
*Write on the words
I had so much fun playing yesterday and not off to play in the 30 minutes I have before work!

Fabulous card and journal page. You definitely figured out those crayons. And isn't it wonderful that we have so many wonderful enablers here on SCS to make us buy papers, stamps, etc...LOL...You being one of those, of course. I love the whole kit and caboodle but I am especially drawn to the beautiful sentiment on the card face. It's wonderful. Hugs.
