This card was made for a card challenge that required that the card be a slimline card, and include "a thing with a tail".
I had seen the clever technique that Jennifer McQuire calls a "scene changing card" (https://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2...ing-cards.html) that has cutouts in on the front of the card that look inside the card where the same shaped item is mounted.'
All of my grand-daughters love dinosaurs, so what better thing to make than a birthday card featuring "girly" dinosaurs wishing her a happy birthday!
The dinosaurs are all cut out from a Stampin' Up! (SU) designer series paper (DSP) called "Dinoroar". I used my Brother ScanNCut digital cutting machine to cut out the dinosaurs (leaving a 0.04 white border around each one). I then used the same cut file to cut three copies of the pterodactyl and brontosaurus outlines (without the 0.04" extra border) and glued them as a stack to raise the two dinosaurs up off the inside of the card.
I used the digital cutter to also cut the outline of the two dinosaurs on the front of the card, and used these openings to glue the dinosaurs in place. So when you open up the card, you see the same two dinosaurs plus another dino, leaving room to write your birthday greeting.
The greeting on the front of the card is from the SU "Bonanza Buddies" stamp set. I stamped in with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
The border on the front was cut using SU Berry Burst cardstock and the SU "Rectangle Stitched" dies. Because the card is tall, I had to cut the border out using three runs thru the Big Shot allowing the ends of the dies to extend out beyond the cutting plate so I could cut the middle part of the border without cutting the short ends. Here is a YouTube video by K Werner Design on how to extend your dies to make your cuts longer than the die itself:
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of the techniques used.
