For Dina's 9-5 MIX400 challenge.
I looked at it in bed early this morning and, as I usually overthink things, I was trying to work how to use my cute PB typewriter stamp, incorporate the elements I liked in her dress AND make it mixed media. By the time I got up, I had simplified it down and ditched the typewriter image. I gessoed a dictionary page, knowing that then no matter what else I did, I had the mixed media covered - in the end I also stamped, used pencils, and added liquid pearls and Stickles.
When the gesso was dry I stamped the sentiment, then I used the TCP plaid builder sentiment with pencils (to avoid the risk of smudges or the time-consuming drying of ink on gesso). I tried to pick colours as close as I could to the stripes in the dress in the photo. I liked the combination of dots in with the stripes, so I knew I would add those later.
The white base was too stark so I sponged it with Antique Linen, and then stamped all round the edge in coffee archival. I used that also to sponge the edges of the main piece slightly, and to stamp the paperclips in two corners. I added a die-cut paperclip using red metallic paper. I stamped some of the circles from the MFT set, added # and @ into the larger ones and Liquid Pearls into the smaller ones. Added Stickles randomly round the edge, and to pick up on her cardigan, I also added a few sequins.

Wow Great job with the inspiration. I am super impressed with the lines and what really caught my eye was the little paper clip. I thought it was real until I read your description. Awesome job. Blessings.

You captured the design of Dolly's dress so well. Your die-cut paperclip looks real and is perfect for the office scene!
