This card is for the alpha Z challenge = zany zoo.
As for my card, it only took me the whole morning whilst crafting on zoom with friends to make it and gosh what a frustrating experience.
I knew I wanted to use this new stamp set and thought the card could also be put against this weeks Teapot challenge, but I'm so disappointed with the effects I achieved that there's no way it will now be used for that challenge.
It is the first time I've used this paper after doing a TH class and where he states he loves the stuff. Maybe I used it incorrectly or something but today it was not cooperating.
First the new stamp stuck to the paper and ripped it. Start again with another piece and the paper moved in my Misti and even though I thought I had it in the corner when I reinked it wasn't in the right place. Two down, onto the third piece but then I decide to turn one over and use the other side. Waste not, want not.
I wanted to create a sponged BG using 3 colours. I start with my lightest, yellow, and it glides on and the paper feels like glossy paper. Second colour sponged on and it totally covers the first colour. Third colour and that covers the previous two...mmmm. I am thinking what happened to my blending.
After quite a bit of sponging I decide that's the best effect I am going to get and remove my masked images. Lightly sponge around them and still not happy with the effect.
Now onto the colouring. I get out my copics thinking these can colour on anything. Nope, the ink starts to give a watery effect which for the elephant is fine as he is having a good hose down, but for the other animals it is all blotchy....another mmm.
Out come the distress inks and I add those but now they are not cooperating. Finally I get out my watercolour pencils and use those. The paper does say it can be used for watercolouring.
With the stamping I found that the black archival ink is also blotchy and had to use my tombow black pen in some places. Not what I was expecting....another mmm.
Finally I decide to add wink of stella to my animals, add my die cut and I am done.
If anyone has tips on this paper I would appreciate it as I have two packs to be used. The packaging does say it is ideal for detailed stamping and maybe I needed a more detailed stamp or BG.
I enjoyed my craft time with my friends but gosh I am not happy with the effects on my card.
That is craft for me...trial and error and keep learning so do not be put off from using this paper. I will try it again and finally master it.
TFL. Happy day

Thanks for sharing all of your trials and efforts that make your card unique. So very glad to know that I have company! I love your results. The blending on the background works for me, and I was wondering how you got each animal to emit a beautiful yellow glow! TFS!

I love your zany zoo, Jayne! They are hilarious. I like your sponged background, it sounds like it was quite an adventure to get it done. Sorry, I have no advice for dealing with this paper. I'm sure you'll get it all worked out eventually. Fun card!

I've never used that paper and have never heard of it before, Jayne. I stick to the basics, whatever works for me is what I continue to use. Sounds like you had quite a day, but you finally got through it and your card is such a Delight! Thanks for the smile this morning, a fun card to wake up to. I love how the animals are laughing....in the end, you have a very fun creation~

I really like your card- love your colors and that image is so much fun! I love the Washi taped edging. I am not familiar with that cardstock, you'll have to google it- but I love this card!

No clue as to what paper you used, but this looks pretty good to me. I'd be happy with it. Those images are so cute! Fun card even though it was so frustrating for you.
