yep, I am definitely rusty! Good thing this wasn't for a VSN. It was more than an hour card. I've spent the past two months riding my bike every spare moment. It's easy to social distance on a bicycle. And some of the time, I thought about stamps, paper, inks, and ideas. But those ideas flittered in and out of the gray matter. It took the WT and F4A to bring them back. Blues...and sapphires. I just celebrated another trip around the sun this week!
The main element of my card was cut from an aluminum can. I've been saving the can for quite awhile as I loved the art of it. I carefully fussy cut it free. Next was creating the background
grass and sky and a harvest moon. I used many blue hued inks. The moon (Carabelle Studio) was such fun to do! I added a corrugated 'pier' post bottom. This was from a very thick scrap of cardboard. I peeled several layers off and embossed with a teal and bronze mixed media ep. The village panel had to be stapled on my base. I cut away several of the more interesting images. Added a tag Thanks for dimension along the front. Slid in a Victorian window at the top left. It was embossed in Shell White and colored with 'Stormy Sky' distress. I placed the name of the business from the can in the window dentil. Fort George. For the grassy bank, I used an old Stampin' Up! clump of grass image randomly around the green bottom. All that was left was to staple the corners with various colored staples. Oh, and placed the 'Only in the PACIFIC Northwest, Astoria, Oregon' amongst the cottages.
I am editing to add, the camera did not catch the gorgeous pearlescent blue of the can panel. And my background panel is Enchanted Evening, a rich blue. But I know your artistic eyes will imagine it!
This card is going to the brewer of 'City of Dreams' at Fort George. I hope they like it, I know I enjoy their liquid art! Credit my son, Andy...who is always in search of wonder.

Happy birthday week, Susan! You have gifted us with an art filled piece from your heart which holds a creativity like no other. Every detail captivates but I am partial to the cardboard dimensional float. What a life this can has had! City of Dreams is going to flip their pop top over it.

As you can see from the comments already here, you have returned to us and never missed a beat. Only you can see the beauty in a beer can and incorporate it as a focal point on a lovely card. Glad to see you back and happy to get to see your artistic talents shine again. Happy you have good air that allows you to cycle. Just today we can see blue sky again down here, so no time outside for a while.
