This is my entry for the Alphabet Challenge. This card is for the letters X and E. My X is the visual X in my card design, and the E is represented by embossing - both hammered and heat.
Yesterday's TLC challenge was to do hammered embossing. I borrowed my husband's rubber mallet to emboss snowflakes on my card stock. Northern Flurries has a swirl of snowflakes but, since I was embossing with the mallet, I could move the paper in there and get snowflakes on more of the card front.
After doing the hammered embossing, I used the faux patina technique to ink up my panel. That tutorial can be found here: Faux Patina Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers I chose to go with more of a purple snowstorm.
The most nerve-wracking part was cutting my X into the panel after all that work! I tried several colors of glitter paper behind the panel and settled on the white, then added that to an Elegant Eggplant base.
I didn't want to hide my X but wanted to add a die cut snowflake there, so a vellum snowflake it is! Added a rhinestone at the center and called it done.
Thanks for the challenges and thanks for looking!

That looks beautiful, Catherine. I know what you mean about the cutting - always a bit of angst when you go beyond the point of no return with something that you can't do a trial run first. The silver and purple is a wonderful combination.

So clever for your X card! I love your idea to use a snowflake for your hammered card- I thought about doing that... Love your silver embossing and love your vellum snowflake!

Beautiful X card and I can just picture you with your hubby’s mallet. The vellum snowflake looks good on your X. TFS. Happy day
