Nancy sent me a few playing cards which were perfect for the MMJ challenge. I selected the 9 of hearts because my birthdate is Jan 9. The woman's face was cut from G45 Steampunk Debutante paper, the snippets of dark green are the trimmings from fussy cutting it. I scrunched a little masking tape and stuck it to the bottom of the card before applying gesso and tissue paper over. The mica mist gave me a bit of a surprise. I had read how some people do their spritzing into a cardboard box to contain the over-spray. I had an empty Amazon box in the kitchen so I put some newspaper in the bottom, laid down the card, shook my spray and gave it a spritz. The nozzle did a crazy whirly thing and then dropped a big blob of ink. Good thing I was using the box or I would have been cleaning green sparkle off my kitchen for a week. I tipped the card and let the blob run and then gave it another spritz for more general shimmer coverage. I reminded myself that this is a joyful challenge and mixed media often gives surprises along the way. So, my green blob was the happy surprise for this project.
