I incorporated several SCS challenges in this creation as well as the texture challenge at **Art*Journal*Journey*.
MIX398 - Ky has us focusing on Healing - what heals us or others or just a healing pallet. So doing MIX makes me feel better, fishing works for my hubby and my daughter, Crystal, and shopping on Amazon makes us all feel better (I used part of an Amazon box as my base - lol).
CC808 -Color Challenge - LeAnn picked Bumblebee, Merry Merlot, and Mossy Meadow with a dessert of masculine. I have an number of masculine touches even though my daughter is in the picture: distressing, fishing, masking tape, drywall tape, and rustic look. Even used a piece of tackle out of one of hubby's many tackle boxes (don't let him know or I will banned from his man cave for evermore). I used watercolors for my colors and just combined them however they wanted to be combined...
IC771- Angie picked Stuffed Safari as our site: I needed a fish inspiration so here is my selection:
This is also for Kandie's MMJ challenge - masking tape texture. I have masking tape on the base of my piece of box (drywall tape too). I love how much texture it adds. This creation is going in my ring journal I am making for all my birthday guests. The back has a little letter talking about how they add to my life and how proud I am of them. This one will be how proud I am that she is an outdoors girl and participates with her hubby in all his loves - something I never really did but wish I had. She hunts, shoots guns and bows, fishes, goes duck hunting in the snow, swamps and rivers and muck, and she is good at it all. My husband says she has one of the best aims he has seen and that is saying a lot coming from him!
Creation made like this if you are interested:
*Cut amazon box piece 5x6
*Tear the corner down a bit
*Layer of white gesso
*drywall tape and masking tape
*layer of white gesso
*add water colors one color at a time
*add more green and splatter remainder on page
*take a stipple brush with white and tone it all down a bit
*rub TH distress ink around edges - vintage photo followed by ground expresso
*stamp and watercolor fish while in the MISTI - stamp again and fussy cut
*wrap some silver thread around the panel
*steal metal piece out of hubby's tackle box
*print picture on Sprocket and mat
*foam tape on the picture and fish while also sticking on metal piece in between and with some glue
*tuck in piece of torn plaid paper for grounding
Super fun. Stared it yesterday and finished it this morning- built it with pieces of each challenge - fun how things inspire you! She will love, love, love this.

An amazing work of art! Wow! What I would give to sit and learn from you! Is that masking tape behind the picture? I have run out of adgectives for the fabulous texture!
OMGoodness! Nancy, this is just outstanding! WOW!! The crumpled/inked cardstock right behind the picture is awesome, as is the drywall tape! I'm sure your hubby won't mind that little bit of tackle you "borrowed"! Wonderful picture of your daughter!

Nancy this is amazing! Love the texture, the mixed media, and your daughter's picture is adorable. I could go on and on! I have no idea how you combined all the challenges to create such a perfect treasure. My granddaughter is a miniature Crystal, she's her dad's shadow at 6, hunting, fishing, and frog catching! Adorable creation, thanks for sharing your story, it was a fun read!
