I was kind of dreading the masking tape MMJ adventure, but I totally love it and will be doing it a bunch in the future. I love, love, love it!
So this is the start of a ring journal I am making for everyone I am inviting to my birthday party this year. I am doing 5x6 cardboard panels with MMJ techniques on one side with a picture and the other side is my journaling with basically a letter to them telling them why I am proud of them and love them and how meaningful they have made my life.
Base is Amazon box then:
*White Gesso
*Then masking tap scrunched up (check out MMJ05 - link below)
*drywall tape
*More gesso and some crackle medium to cover the areas where drywall tape meets masking tape (should have done more but oh well)
*Dylusions spray and water
*Watercolor and water
*White gesso with dry brush
*gold paint with dry brush on any part sticking up
*papers and banner
*die cut wreath and foliage (thanks Shelly!)
*more gesso and gold beads
*print picture and top it up
So much fun and she will love it (for 5 minutes anyway).
Picture is from this weekend when we went wine tasting with 6 of her best friends - a truly wonderful birthday celebration for her 30tth birthday.

Nancy such a cool idea for your birthday and if this is the first of what you are going to include in it, it is going to be a beauty. Beautiful photo of Crystal and I love all the tape and texture. You nailed the challenge. Gorgeous journal page. TFS. Happy day. Big hugs

WONDERFUL, Nancy! So much texture, such an amazing layout and plan for this, and I love the fact that you used an Amazon box as your base, lol. Talk about repurposing something ordinary to something absolutely beautiful.

What a fantastic birthday celebration page and a great memory for your beautiful daughter of her birthday! I love the masking tape background. I love the idea of you making these panels for everyone who is dear enough to you and who will attend your Birthday party! Fabulous panel!

OH MY GOODNESS, NANCY!!! This is SO very cool and neat!!! It's not something that I have ever tried, not anything like this, but I really love it! I am IMPRESSED SO MUCH!!!
First, I really love the metal grid at it's base, then all of the creative elements around the photo--which is lovely. What a very neat idea to use bits of a page from an old hymnal, I have 1 or 2 old ones, and I'm looking forward to doing some cool things with some of those pages. But I have much to learn before I can attempt it and I will be saving those old books until I know a whole lot more about mixed media, etc...
I cannot imagine the amount of work that went into this, and the fact that you're doing an album for several people is a giant project, but I really look forward to seeing each of these as you upload them. I am extremely impressed in your inventiveness and your use of so many textures to make this truly wonderful art. WOW!!! Nancy, this is beyond wonderful!!!
Favorited, how I wish that we had the Favorites of the Week in operation, but I'm hoping that it will be able to be working soon, and I am sure that everyone involved in working out the technical glitches is doing all possible to do and more. But I am missing this and I'd love to be able to put this artwork in my Favorites of the Week. Know that would be my intention...
Have a blessed week, stay healthy and safe, thank you again for really blowing my mind and giving me so much artistic enjoyment, Nancy, I am grateful.
