Sparkly Sequined Friend Sampler (#19/50)

Photo Details
Poster: 905lovestostamp

This is the 19th hand-stitched card I am uploading in no particular order of approximately 50 cards, 44 of these were given to my Mom, a master cross-stitcher. I had been searching for several years to find a way to truly incorporate hand-stitching onto cardstock, and this is truly the first time I felt that this technique was a true success.

This was one of the first hand-stitched pieces that I stitched. I used sequins on a few of the earlier cards, and enjoyed using them, but for some reason, I stopped using them as I kept going. I will have to play with them again...

I think that I could stitch a little better now, but considering how few times I had stitched when I stitched this, I am satisfied with the effort.

I owe my stitching to Jennifer MacGuire, it was because I watched her YouTube video which introduced the Paper Smooches Hand-stitching die as well as an introduction to hand-stitching on cardstock. She has a few of these, but if you are new to this technique, I would recommend starting watching her first which shows her stitching with die-cuts from the Paper Smooches Hand-stitching die. Other companies such as Altenew and MFT have made similar dies. At the time of creating the 50 hand-stitched cards, I started with the Paper Smooches die. It does not have an outer cutting edge, so it gives more options for matting and framing. I tend to struggle getting things straight, so it was a real challenge for me to die-cut those dies straight. This die, I believe is the smallest of the 3. The other 2 have outer edge cutting dies, which I do find easier. The Altenew Pegboard Canvas die is the largest, I believe that it is exactly an A2 size. If you want to do Hand-stitching of this detail with larger holes and further apart like this one by Paper Smooches but you want one as large as A2, then make sure that you buy the PEGBOARD CANVAS DIE!!! The Cross-stitch Canvas die is I think the same dimensions, but the holes are tiny and they are MUCH closer together!!! You would need to use much thinner embroidery yarn for sure!!! I have this die, but I have not played with it yet. It's not, at least to me for the beginning stitcher, and that's still what I am...

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a, look at hand-stitched card #19. If you leave a message, please know that I appreciate it very much, that you have made my day.

Please stay safe and be well at this very uncertain and unusual time.

Wow, this looks awesome with the added e.f.'s impressions. Your stitching with sequins reminds me of work an artist friend of mine does with her silk threads weaving. Lovely colors!

Joanne, this is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love the cross-stitching, and the sequins add a lovely touch of sparkle and elegance. I love it! And I agree with Shirl about the embossing folder. Definitely love how that's on the background and accented on the envelope flap. Truly a beautiful card and a work of heart! Hugs and love, sweet friend, and thanks for your lovely comment on my card -- as well as encouragement and especially your prayers! xoxo

I would never have thought of using sequins in cross stitching. They certainly takes the results up a notch. Beautiful results!

Hi Joanne! I love this blue and purple edition, especially with the sequins - big fan of all of those!!

Thank you for your sweet comments! Unfortunately that denim paper is one I have had forever!! I have no idea where I got it from. I knew I should have looked at the UPC code to see if I could get any info. But, I didn't. Now that I've used it all I wish I had more. Hee hee!!

Joanne, this card is absolutely GORGEOUS!! Such a lovely way to incorporate your stitchery skills....even with added sequins. The colors are glorious. A treasure for whoever receives it. And even a coordinating envelope!

WOW! Don't know how I missed these little gems. They are all just amazing. I love to stitch on paper and you have really inspired me to use some sequins. Thanks so much.
