Its the first day of Spring here in my part of the Southern Hemisphere - and I for one are so glad. I am not a winter person. It is lovely and sunny outside and the gardens are starting to bloom with daffodils, star flowers and of course poppies.
We usually have any annual flower event here called Floriade but this year it has been cancelled due to you know what. So instead I am making a Floriade with my new die from Paper Rose.
To start with I water coloured four pieces of card, green for the background and red, yellow and orange for the poppies. I decided to use cream for the frame. I then die cut the five different copies - one at a time and started by piecing the background green card. This is where it helps if you love jigsaw puzzles. First step is to GO SLOWLY or all the little pieces end up all over the room. Once the background was finished it was time to start on the flowers - one colour at a time. Finished up with the pale yellow poppies and when it came to putting the last tiny little piece into the puzzle it was no where to be found. It is still lurking somewhere around the dining room table. I had to find a little piece of the pale yellow and die cut the portion of the die again. To finish off I used Wink of Stella to give the flowers some morning dew and freshness.
Hope you enjoy my bright collection of poppies.

I do not have that patience in me. And isn't that just the way with jigsaw puzzles. Always missing the last piece! This field of poppies is gorgeous! Happy spring!

Helen I've just stopped doing my jigsaw puzzle and it's frustrating me. I keep saying one of the pieces is missing LOL. I had forgotten it was the first day of Spring...it certainly doesn't feel like it here as it's poured it down and been so windy. I've been glad to be tucked up indoors but my petunias are loving it LOL. Your card is beautiful. I saw this die cut the other day in our craft shop and had to stop myself from buying. I love poppies...just about any flower. This is beautiful and you have the patience of a saint to piece all the pieces back in. Stunning result. TFS Happy day and keep safe and well

What a lovely card so bright in its fall colours, ha, ha! Of course fall is what we are approaching here. My California poppies are still blooming cheerfully under my kitchen window but that won't be for too much longer. Your card looks like a beautiful poster that could fill a wall with joy. Whenever I need to keep a little die cut piece (usually the 'i' in birthday) it flings itself as far away as possible. :-)

Happy Spring to you, then. We are just heading into fall, lol......I know exactly what you mean about pieces going astray right when you need them. Your card is beautiful!
