This card was made as an inspiration card for a challenge that required the use a sketch and jewel tone colors.
I'll admit that this was one of the most challenging card's I've made in a while... not because of difficulty, but I couldn't get my creative mojo going! I tried two other cards before arriving on this theme and use of papers.
The jewel tone colors I used were ruby and gold. I started by creating the poinsettia by layering many petals that I had punched with a leaf punch that creates 3 different sizes. I glued these together, then filled the center with Glossy Accents as a "glue" to hold the gold mini gems I sprinkled over it.
The card base was created using heavy white cardstock cut 9-1/2" x 4-7/8", then folded in half. At first I cut this on my paper trimmer, but after realizing that this larger paper format wouldn't fit through my Big Shot die cutting machine to cut out the large circle from just the front of the card, I recreated the card using the Brother Canvas Workspace software, then exported it to my Brother ScanNCut digital cutting machine to cut out.
The green pattern paper was cut on my trimmer, then the circle was die cut. Likewise, I made the gold cardstock mat by die cutting a circle the next size down from the one used for the green paper. This left a nice gold mat around the green layer, as well as a gold mat for the entire green panel.
After gluing the green and gold layers together, I used a punch to create the diagonal gold element from the same gold cardstock as the mat. I then attached the diagonal piece to the front of the card, then used mini glue dots to attach the flower to parts of the petals that overlapped the green panel and the diagonal piece.
The final step was to die cut the sentiment from the same magenta foil paper as the poinsettia. To give the sentiment more dimension, I die cut the same word from thick what cardstock and glued to the back of the foil diecut in a stacked fashion.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of the need for precise location of all three circle cutouts, and the care that must be taken gluing shiny gold card elements. You have to be VERY careful not to allow any glue to get on the front of the foil since it's almost impossible to get the glue marks off without permanently damaging the shiny gold/magenta surfaces.
Another summer-made Christmas card for my stash!!!

I hear you. I love foil paper but SO true about the glue. Been there done that!
This is pretty! All the shine is wonderful. I like the layered opening too.
