For the Tea Party this week we are creating cards with Hats for the Derby.
You may think I have missed going to the Derby - but not so. These two little girls are heading to the beach where there is always a day of racing to be had too. Only this time - its seahorses racing. this is just so much better than being at a proper racing carnival.
I started out painting a background for my card. Added two palm trees and stamped the leaves with distress oxide ink and then coloured with a water colour brush. The two little girls were stamped, coloured and some doodled flowers added to their rather plain swimsuits. The girls were then fussy cut and edged with a black Tombow marker and position in the scene. I finished off my "grounding" the girls - so that they didn't appear to hover above the sand. Added some bling on their race day hats as well.
Hope you enjoy my version of a day at the races.

Awesome scene and the girls are wonderful. Super background and coloring, and the stark black lines are perfect.
What a great card, Helen. Hugz

Seahorse racing, what a wonderful visual image that brings up! We're in the middle of watching an old set of Jacques Cousteau DVDs (Australia and Indonesia), and have seen a couple of amazing seahorses and sea dragons. I think I'd rather be on your beautiful warm, sandy beach than at a racecourse any day. And hats as sun protection - yes, all the way.
