This is for the paper towels challenge. Since I had no stained ones to tear up I started by spritzing water onto two sheets of a thick ply paper towel and sprinkled it with Brusho powders. I went for sea colors blue green and a little red. Spritzed some Glimmer Mist Very Aqua and Gold, After it dried overnight the real fun began. I made a stencil with a strip of cracker box cardboard using the Big Splash wave die from Memory Box. I used molding paste mixed with 2 drops of Distress Speckled Egg Ink and ran it across my cardboard stencil with a spatula. Moved it once and did it again and then discarded the soggy cardboard. While that dried I worked on my Focal Image I stamped the Mermaid and seahorse in Versamark on thick watercolor paper and embossed it in the liquid platinum EP. Then I started coloring in with a Distress embossing pen and sprinkling the Distress Glaze embossing powder in different colors to achieve the lacquered look of the Mermaid Queen and her fiery mount. I fussy cut out the image. Now that was the feat of the day.
I mounted the background on Mixed Media paper and then wet all around the edge and tore the edges away. I use a blending brush with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink to color the torn paper edges. After that I die-cut all the oceana elements using Gelli paper scraps. I found an onion net I had saved yonks ago..whew that was a search but being rainy outside I was in for the count. I did break (under a few inner grumbles) to feed my starving hubby. Then back to assemble this marvelous conglomeration of oceanic wonders. My finishing touch was a shiny enameled starfish at her waist. A queen has to have her jewels and a pearl Tiara. She's now fit for Neptune's Ball.
Thanks for patiently reading.

Sitting here just looking at all the different layers and textures in this lovely sea themed card. I love mermaids and this one is no exception - she must be so happy in this watery wonderland.
