Hello and TFL! I made this for a table top decoration and it has a cardboard 'kickstand' on the backside like a frame. i just copied the design from a frame i have and attached it with same gold brads you see on the front side.
I am posting this to MMJ03, as a part of this month's fun Mixed Media group.
(MMJ03 is the third month we have done this, August). join us! : )
Here are the Inspiration Videos we used this month.
Thanks Nancy and Jayne for the videos. Altered playing cards. : ) FUN!
watercolored some abstract Holly on the edge of frame by swiping the paint brush thru a Dina Wakely stencil 'Gusts'. used wet on wet technique to add some BBSugar swipes for 'aging' edge.
I painted Gesso over top of the playing card and then sponged the BBSugar, it kind of just ran and dried all the same color. then stamped the Musical Sheet paper image on top with Smoky Slate (it is super light) as it also kind of bled light into the BBSugar. ?? not sure , very new to Gesso, so maybe that stays wet longer than i thought? any suggestions on better use are appreciated!
layered everything together with double sided taped and then glue onto the cardboard box edges. A little 'wonky' but I will enjoy it on my end table at the holidays. : )
ENJOY and take good care, Teresa

Wow - so cool to make a table decoration for Christmas. 42,000 details on this and I love the playing cards peeking through and adding fun. Since you had the ink run, maybe let the gesso dry longer - I find I have to be very careful to do that, but whatever you did looks fabulous. You know I love the cardboard too. Fun. Hugz
