This is hand-stitched card #17 of approximately 50 hand-stitched cards I created in about 18 months. I made a large set of 44 of these hand-stitched cards as a special set for my Mom, who is a master cross-stitcher as a tribute to her. I had been looking for several years to find a way to incorporate hand-stitching onto my cards especially when I made one for my Mom, but nothing really was what I had wanted until I watched a YouTube tutorial by the wonderful Jennifer Mcguire, who was introducing a new hand-stitching die by Paper Smooches, and she also gave an introduction to stitching on cardstock. I was very excited, and ordered this die as soon as it was available, and I started learning the basics of stitching on cardstock. I realized that for myself, like Jennifer McGuire, that stitching on cardstock was relaxing and enjoyable for me. I am a beginner in stitching, and I still have much to learn in stitching, especially I need to learn more stitches, and I want to learn how to put geometric patterns together.
I decided that I would use each of the hand-stitched pieces I created, even though I could sometimes see flaws later on as I became a, bit more experienced in hand-stitching on cardstock. This is one of my earlier pieces. For some reason, as I continued to create, I stopped using the sequins on these, not sure why, and I would like to do more with sequins and similar attachments.
I love this stitch which I have named as a Lattice stitch because I have not found a name for it. I am limited in the colors of embroidery thread available to me, and then I need to find the best match of colored cardstock possible, as well as colored envelopes. I THINK that this envelope is one by Gina K Designs, and that the colored cardstock is also by Gina K Designs. I will try and list the specific colors later. My colored cardstock consists mainly of Stampin' Up and Gina K Designs, although I have a little from a few other companies.
With the hello die, I chose to die-cut a piece of purple fun foam, then I later covered it with a heavier layer of Glossy Accents. I wonder if this could crack over time, but I love the look of the texture of the fun foam combined with the glossy wet-look of this treatment. I am also hoping that this would travel better going through the mail, as I am quite sure that a fun foam die-cut on its own would not fare too well going through the postal system. But, one could easily simply cut from several layers of regular cardstock and glue them together, as I have done with some of these cards.
Thank you for taking a closer look at this hand-stitched card, it means a lot to me. When you take the time and the trouble to write and leave a comment, you truly touch my heart.
Take good care, and be safe and well especially during these unusual and uncertain times.

These colors just jump out of the gallery! Your stitches are lovely. I am curious, do you use regular embroidery floss or a heavier "yarn". The sequins do add a special sparkle to the panels. The cross stitch embossing folder is perfect. I am sure your mother feels cherished that you have put so much into honoring her stitchery in your cards. Hugs.
