This week's sketch challenge brings on a slimline design. I found that my supply of embossing folders were too short for the 8.5" length so I came up with a hack. I cut a slit into the hinge at the top of the folder. This allowed me to insert the paper, emboss, then slide the paper down, line up the design and emboss again. I had to make the slit wider than just a cut with the craft knife to accommodate the paper but I can see myself using this technique for future slimline cards.
I hope you enjoy trying a slimline card this week.

This is so beautiful. Wish I would have thought of the corner die cut I have. I may have to make another just to use it. I don't think I have used it since I bought it! The lacy die cuts on the darker base is so pretty with the touches of blue!

Sonja, I have tried to do a similar hack when creating hand-stitched cards wanting to use A2 embossing folders for A7 cards, but mine didn't turn out nearly as well for sure, I am impressed!!! I truly love how these challenges cause one to take what one has and use it in a very different way, it really makes one's art so much more inventive, which is my goal. I want to try doing some challenges when life settles down and I don't have so many medical appointments and treatments/surgeries, etc. I know that I need this for my own development for sure. Using the corner die this way creates a completely different look, and I love the strip of written script cardstock as a layer, one that I think I probably like the most of all. Beautiful dark embossed surface really grounds this whole piece in a unique and gorgeous way. WOW!!!
Thank you so much for leaving a kind commnt on my latest upload of hand-stitched cards. That meant a whole lot to me!!! I sent you a PM regarding your question because I had a longer answer--typical me!
I am a big admirer of your artwork, Sonja, you create with mediums I don't know well at all, and I love learning from seeing what you create--and when you sent me the 1st card, seeing and feeling what you created with powders really showed me what can be done which was awe-inspiring--thank you!!!
