I have never had much luck with this type of bg but what I am finding is that using a better quality WC paper and a LOT more water is giving phenomenal results!!
I happened to see the challenge posted last night right before I went to bed so took a few extra minutes to Press my 3 inks onto a piece of cling wrap. At the last second, I decided to add the tiniest spot of pearl-ex powder right in the center, Then spritzed heavily with water - laid on my WC paper, flipped it all over and scrunched up the cling wrap. I figured it would be dry by morning and ready to make a project. Fast forward 9 hours . . . . while I could see through the cling wrap that there were some really nice markings, the piece was still pretty WET!! . . .and so starts the waiting game which makes this girl crazy - lol. Tick - Tick -tick -tick . . .
Finally dry enough to work with after 14 hrs dry time! That tiny dot of pearl-ex traveled far and wide on my piece but I quickly realized it was floating on top of the paper so sprayed the whole thing with hairspray which sealed it nicely. The colors & patterns made me think of an Arctic Ice floe so pulled out my penguins, stamped and added a bit of color & shading with Arteza WC brush markers. I didn't want to cover too much of this fun bg so used the smallest label die possible to die cut my image after fussy cutting all the overhang areas. Die cut a second piece the same size and cut it in quarter to slide outwards an frame my piece. Finished with my sentiment stamped in black.

Tick Tock Tick Tock...wow, that took a while. But, what great results you achieved. I love the added powder in the middle and where it went. Hair spray to the rescue. We really use all kinds of things with our craft, don't we? Love your sentiment and those adorable penguins. Awesome card!!!

Thanks for your process...it does look like ice and snow. The pearl-ex gives it a sun kissed look. Great card with the penguins and your coloring with the markers. Glad you joined us this week for another way to use water colors.

Your arctic background is beautiful! The purple and blue sky is very pretty with the enhancement of the pear-ex. Sweet penguins look like they are enjoying the beautiful sky.

This is stunning! I love the colors! The pattern is terrific. I can well imagine the 14 hour drying time. We have a lot of humidity here so I have started to make wet backgrounds the night before when I can! So glad you didn't give up on this!

Linda, I can see how you were inspired to use this as an icy surface! I thought the same thing as soon as I saw yours. Turned out just great, despite the long wait.
