So, another experiment with making backgrounds. I am always enthralled with Susie Australia's description of her creative process and one of her themes seems to be, "I threw every paint I had at it". So, I tried to channel Susie and threw a bunch of techniques at this one.
Initially, I applied versamark ink directly onto the paper through the Stamperia stencil to create a resist. I started ink blending with Lemonade, but it was too light and the stenciling wasn't showing. So I moved on up to Wild Honey. Then added Salty Ocean. The green in this card is the blending of those two colors. Well, the colors were pretty but the stenciling was blah.
Thought micro glaze might help. It didn't. So I smooshed black soot on the glass mat, spritzed, ran the edge of an old key card through the ink and then tapped and smeared onto the paper. I saw this being done by an art journal artist using acrylic paints. (It looks much better with acrylic paint.) At that point it looked worse than blah.
So I pulled out my Queen Anne's Lace stamp and stamped away: first generation, second generation and third generation stamping, I think that saved it.
I wanted to go all out "Susie", but I was not as fearless as she, so I decided to stop there. Slapped on the butterfly and the sentiment and taped it to a base card, And now it's off in the mail as a thank-you for the gift of the butterfly die. I think Queen Anne's Lace and butterflies can pretty much save any card.
Hope you are having a creative day. And, if your experiments don't turn out, there's always the trash can and still you will have gained value just through the effort. TFL

Debbie, Not sure what you did but it's beautiful! BG is awesome and the perfect foil for your silhouette stamping and beautiful butterfly.

Ha, I know what you mean about channelling Susie. We are all influenced and learn by each other I think. I think this looks great, Debbie. Love the MB butterfly. Your Q.A. lace collage worked out just fine, my friend!

How fun! BEATIFULLY done background. I laughed because I often create cards with Susie in my head. I can't throw backgrounds away because she stops me and says, just put more paint or ink on it. LOL! Your image is wonderful too and the card is awesome. Hugz
