I made a Julie Nutting doll card for this weeks Teapot Tuesday challenge, it got me thinking about this card and I couldn't find it in my gallery....it seems I forgot to upload it.
There is a funny story with this card. Many years ago I mailed a Teapot Tickle card to a TEApotter, trouble is I wrote the wrong address....I mailed it to Nancy Williams address.
Nancy kindly readdressed the card and sent it on its merry way. I recently uploaded a very similar card to this for a Teapot Tickle and Nancy and I reminisced about my error. I then made this card and mailed it to Nancy...it arrived about 10 weeks later!
The background is from "The Australian Woman's Weekly Fashion - The First 50 Years". It was a cover from 1956. The lady on the front was cut from a 1956 sewing pattern magazine. The paper is super fine and sadly I amputated one foot. I went through my box of spare body parts, but nothing was quite right.
I added the skirt, it is from a Julie Nutting doll stamp and the embossing folder technique. To give the skirt a bit of dimension, do a mountain fold where each seam is, scrub a distress ink stained dauber on the fold, then repeat at each seam.
Karen Dunbrook had a great challenge in January last year called Embossed Folder Stamping (TLC723). Simply smack a distress ink pad on the embossing folder, spritz with water, put cardstock in and rub the folder with your hands - no actually machine embossing.
Thank you for looking. Stay safe.

Stunning Susie. Love the embossing folder skirt. Must try that. Such pretty colours and of course the pearl necklaces and earrings on the Ladies. Nancy reminds me of Grace Kelly or Deborah Kerr.

Great card - love the skirt - her other leg is behind her under all the fullness - she just stepped over something! Your comment about box of body parts reminds me of the TV programme Silent Witness where they work on bodies investigating crimes - the actors have all sorts of bits to work on!

Oh, Susie, this is WONDERFUL!!! I loved reading about all of your creation details, and I have personally found that when I mess up (which happens way more than I'd like... ;)), that the end result is better than my original concept, but so much work and anxiety at times. But I am SLOWLY learning to ENJOY the journey, for at the beginning I would be anxious that it might not turn out, now I really try to enjoy it all, after all, it's the process where I learn and hopefully grow!
This is delightful and I love all of the vintage details, and the little shiny teal buttons and the lace under her skirt add so much, and it could be that she is flinging one leg back as she twirls around?! I loved hearing all about how you created this wonderful card. And your story of the address issue, and how another member helped you and you sent her a beautiful thank you. Love!
Favorited, your work always delights in so many ways and teaches me, and I so want to learn...
Hoping that we will soon be able to list our favorites again, I know that it will happen when it can...
Blessings, this was a wonderful journey to walk through with you,

I didn't even miss her other foot. i suppose i thought she was skipping and the other leg was above the ruffle line. !! yes, that's it.thanks a bunch for the tip on folded the skirt for dimension. i usually watercolor a stripe up the seam, this tip will be great new use for me. thanks for all the sweet comments on my new Camille cards. i had fun : ) stay well, DH and I are taking every precaution. hugs T

WOW your combo of the Julie Nutting doll and the magazine cover is amazing...and the thing that does not amaze me is that you have a box of spare body parts...you're kind of like an Australian Boris Karloff. Anyway I digress...love this..especially the lace and her buttons! Maybe you should add the keyword so everyone sees it...just sayin' ;)

Stunning as always. I thought your lady was just taking a step forward til I read that you required her to hop on one leg. Too funny, but definitely something to which I relate. Just to echo the other's here: your background is inspired, the ef skirt is fabulous, the folds are magnificent, and the card is wonderful! And, I too, enjoy readying about your process -- maybe even more than viewing and admiring your cards. Thanks for inspiring us.

Susie, you are simply a riot! What a tale of two cards you have told. I bet Nancy got a kick out of this when it finally arrived. Your gal is stunning with that ruffled skirt. With all you put into creating this I am certainly glad Nancy eventually got it and we eventually got to view it. Good all around.
