I veered. Here's the deal. I was excited to see Jean's TLC 'Faux Fresco'. I even watched the link to Lydia's tutorial. First hindrance...no permanent pencils (I wondered about alcohol markers), but decided to go with metallic Sharpies. Copper, Gold, Silver. I used the broad side of the pens and randomly colored the raised words of Tim's 'Carte Postale'. Painted with Heavy Bodied White acrylic. Had to let it dry overnight.
I tore my house up trying to find a manicure file...I am an artist, I don't have beautiful nails! Ended up going with superfine steel wool. It worked some, but not exactly what I had hoped. And so that's where I really veered. I wiped the VersaMark over the panel. Should'a used an antistatic mop...for, of course, the embossing powder stuck to more stuff than I wished. Took my un~manicured fingers and rubbed off as much as I could. What you see is my 'Fresco`like Parisian panel! I know it's not real, but I think it has a certain panache.
The quote was a done deal. I love it.
Art remains the one way possible of speaking truth.

Thank you, Jean for soldiering on and posting your cards...it encourages me to break away from my perfectionist nature and realize, there is beauty in everything. Even blotched frescos!

Oh duh! My sanding block wasn’t working all that well and I didn’t even think of trying an emery board. I do have several but like you I don’t use them on my nails- I use them to sand my stumps. Your card has almost a look of granite to it – must be the use of those metallic sharpies that give it that look. I like all the different looks that everybody got ...... I can empathize with the need for perfectionism, but sometimes happy mistakes work out really well too!

The texture and colours in that are amazing, it looks like carved sandstone. Fine steel wool, hmm, I know DH has since he brought back from his last visit to the States. Your trademark staples look fantastic on this.
