Well, guess what? After I uploaded my card I realized I didn't follow the directions for today's Free for All challenge correctly! Today we were asked to take two background stamps and layer them in two different colors. What I did instead was to take one background stamp and stamp it two times using two different colors. Oops! Honest mistake. I hope you enjoy my card just the same.
To create the background I used an oldie but goodie background stamp from Rubber Stampede. I stamped it once in London Fog ink then stamped it again in Paris Dusk. For the second stamping, I shifted the stamp down a bit. By doing this, it created a bit of a shadow effect.
Moving on to the poinsettia. I was happy to get to play with a "new to me" die set that I recently ordered. To make the petals and leaves, I blended Candy Apple and Pine Needles Distress Inks on some white scrap cardstock. I then die cut the poinsettia and leaves from my newly color blended custom paper. After I put the flower together I adhered it onto my background along with a sentiment.
I ended up with a little space at the top and bottom of my background panel. To hide this white space, I cut very thin strips of Holographic Cardstock and glued it to the top and bottom of the panel. I used the Holographic Cardstock as a frame around the sentiment as well. It looks really cool in person when the paper catches the light.
This card is also part of the Ways to Use It "Argh Dust!" Challenge. This card includes a dusting of glitter.
Thank you for letting me share.

Stamping your background twice with that subtle shadow effect is very cool, and gives both dimension and a wonderful base for your beautiful flower. I love the embossed details on your red petals, really adds more texture and that bright red really pops against your swirly, dark background. Beautiful!!!
