I made this card for this week's Teapot Challenge. This is the last Tuesday of the month so we send cards to each other- fun! Shelly is our hostess this week and she has asked us to go "Eastward Bound" for a traditional Tea House Tea.
Initially, I was stumped how I was going to do this challenge, but then I remembered I have these teapot dies. Recently, I borrow the StampinUp First Frost stamp set from a friend. As much as I love this stamp set, I could not make a card with it for anything. However, I had a few epic fails that worked for die cutting these teapot dies from.
Once the stamping and die cutting was done, then it was just a matter of layering up the card. I decided to cut the designer paper into strips to mimic the look of Japanese Screens that remind me of tea houses. The sentiment die is layered up to give it a little more presence.
Thank you Shelly for this fabulous challenge and thank you for looking today! ~Karen.

Beautiful card, Karen! You really captured an Asian theme with this; I love the background created with DSP strips! And a great way to use a "fail", by die-cutting it! Your teapots are fabulous! Hugs!

This definetly has an asian feel to it with those teapots. Glad you saved your fails and diecut the teapots. You made a very pleasing design with the way you did the dp. The hello is just the perfect size sentiment!

Love those teapot dies and your "failed" backgrounds really do work perfectly here to achieve that asian feel. The strips of bg paper coordinate so well, and I think they have a bit of a "deco" feel -- I know that your favorite. LOL. Great card for this challenge. Someone will feel lucky to get this gem.

I'm sorry your First Frost attempts were fails at the start, but they make the most beautiful teapots! And the way you cut the background into strips is super-effective.
