Chris is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she really challenged me with this palette: It's Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape. The dessert option is scallops or waves.
I've been watching Jennifer McGuire's videos, and was really taken with this recent technique, Iron-Off Embossed Resist. Following her technique, I embossed the Pretty Peonies background stamp with VersaMark and clear embossing powder, then rubbed the three Distress Ink colors all over the panel, direct to the watercolor paper. Quickly spritzed with water, then left it to dry.
Then I ironed the panel with a sheet of printer paper on top, which melts the powder into the top layer, leaving the inked panel completely smooth. The rest was easy--a sweet greeting in a die-cut heart and a scalloped white panel all mounted on a Bermuda Bay card, with a scattering of Nuvo Cloud 9 Dream Drops.
BTW, in case you decide to try this technique, take Jennifer's advice and choose a stamp that has fine lines. This is actually my second attempt at the technique. For the first one I used my old "Paisley" stamp from SU. It has big, wide areas, and not enough watercolor paper was exposed to take the ink very well. Not every effort is a success!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Wowzers! Your card is gorgeous, Barbara. I also recently viewed the tutorial you've referenced and can't wait to give that technique a try. I would say you totally aced the technique. I love how colors blend together so nicely with some light peeking through due to the emboss resist. Nice!
