I have always admired Japanese book binding, never tried it until today. It was very much fun, I have to say. I think this could become a book, even though I intended a card. Meandered my way through this project.
What got me started was deciding that if I was going to the Japanese binding, I was going to make a Japanese card. I had just gotten a booklet of Japanese papers, stickers and labels from Pepin Press. I hadn't done the SC yet and with those skinny strips, I knew I could use the tapes in the book. They were sort of wide so I cut them in half and put them on a foiled marbled cs (F4A sparkle, shimmer or shine). I didn't measure, just eyeball. Then I embossed the whole thing, love how that turned out. Added a circle sticker in the middle and a simple sentiment, gold embossed on a leftover mixed media piece. To make things a bit more simple, because I'm challenged with construction, I added the cs strip with the book binding and scored it so it acts like a hinge. I could add papers inside for a booklet, but they wouldn't be bound with the twine. Added some strips of tape and the foiled cs under the binding, which of course were added after I did the binding. Making it up as I go. I had fun doing this little project

Great job on your project. You don't need a tape measure because you eyeball things perfectly. Card or book binder would be super. Love all the gold shimmer.

I love your idea to make it a Japanese card, maybe later a book, beautiful papers and love the quilt pattern, your blue rope works great with the colors from your papers!!

What a beautiful creation, Jean. Your papers, tapes and sticker are just lovely, and I like the soft fuzziness of the fibre you used for binding. I'd say the score line is a good idea, too.
