Do you have moments when words fail you? Sometimes it's better to say less than more. I'm pretty good at that, as I often don't think of the perfect thing to say until later.
I bought a mandala kit with Spectrum Noir ai markers and colored this mandala (not my drawing) with the set of blues. It was ok, not very exciting and I didn't feel like the directions on how to color were that great. I don't color a lot. Set it aside, forgot about it.
Then along came the teaparty tickle challenge (red, white and blue, not patriotic). I struggle with color challenges, to be honest, which is why it took me until today to unearth that mandala, which gave me a starting point. I had the JD stamps, which I thought went well with the mandala, embossed them in pearl and then used just about every blue DOx ink there is, trying to work with the ai markers. Not a success, many of the blue DOx seem green to me. So I added some colored pencils on top, added a little reddish color in the centers of some of the stamping and some darker red cp in the mandala. Also used some gel pens, like silver, for some punch. This is pretty big so I may just put a small folded card on the back. Otherwise it's more of an art piece. I have no idea why I tend to go bigger, it just happens. I think this also fits the color challenge this week. Just about any blue you can think of is in there.

I think the mandala is beautiful. It reminds me very much of the pottery one sees in Greece. I have a coaster somewhat like it, only with more white. I like the emboss resist background too. Glad to meet someone else who struggles with colour challenges, they tend to freeze me in my tracks. But at least any red and any blue was liberating.

That bg is perfect to showcase your pretty mandala. Beautiful coloring, pencils are perfect for adding highlights and depth. I agree with Sabrina, this looks like a piece of beautiful Greek pottery.

When I saw your card I thought the Mandela was one of the old Holly Berry House medallions that you could stamp multiple times and layer for dimension. I still have some of mine but rarely use them as they get too cumbersome for mailing. Awesome sentiment!
