This card is for 2 challenges, the Free for All and also the Mix challenge.
Anyone who knows me on this site knows that I love square cards. Why?...not only for the shape but also I'm lazy and buy cardstock already scored and my local craft store sells a lot of these in all colours lol.
I also love mixed media so these two challenges were right up my alley.
I have had the panel sitting in my stash for a while which I had sponged with 2 dark colours. I wasn't sure what to do with it until I saw the Mix challenge.
This stencil is new and one I wanted to try. I'm into faces at present and as this card was dark I thought some light paints would work. They didn't and I was being lazy (again) and couldn't get to my acrylic paints, so out came my sparkly gel medium.
The first gold pot I opened was as hard as rock and if anyone knows how to get this to be soft again, I would love to know. The second one was also turning hard and with my spatula there was no way it was going through my stencil. So with some elbow grease and lots of rubbing and a very sparkly glittery finger afterwards I finally got gold on my card. The red gel medium was still ok but seemed to also work better being rubbed through the stencil.
I was going to add a sentiment about the beginning and end as one of the challenges was about finishing an unfinished project, but there was no room for that. That's when I remembered my chit chat stickers and found just the words. Stitching stamped around the edges...another thing I love on projects.
I added my charcoal pencil around the stickers and more rubbing and done. I'm also into layering on different panels at present.
The photo doesn't do the face justice and she does look as though she's got a freckle face lol but it's pretty cool IRL. The texture feels very crackly..another thing I'm into lol.
TFL. Happy day

Jayne that’s a great card and very sparkly, looks like you had fun.
I also make more square cards than any others, I think I find it easier to make, the lady at the PO always tells me hey are more expensive to post!

How fun to have a store that sells the pre-scored cardstock! You would laugh if you saw how I do mine.
Very cool details and gold on this, Jayne. Great MIX card! The sentiment totally ties it all together. Hugz
