Poster: Art Deco Diva

I made this card for 2 challenges. The first is for the Teaparty Challenge. Anita is our hostess and she has chosen the theme of "Put A Shell On It." Our recipient had to cancel her trip to Mexico this year so we are sending her cards that will remind her of tropics.

The 2nd challenge is the Alphabet challenge. Ann is our hostess and she has chosen the letter H. The H on this card is for the hibiscus flowers.

I stamped the color layering waves first. Then masked this area off and sponged in the clouds using a cloud stencil and makeup brush. Then sponged in the sand using Tim Holtz Distress inks and a makeup brush.

Then stamped 3 hibiscus flowers. These flowers require 4 layers of stamping and the leaves require 2 layers of stamping. Fussy cut these out. Stamped the shell in black ink, colored with copic markers and fussy cut it out.

Die cut the white frame using 2 different sized rectangle dies and placed this over the image panel. Applied the shell, flowers and leaves to the white frame. Stamped the smaller birds from the High Tide set in black ink to add some more depth to this card. Applied the image panel to a piece of 5x7 tempting turquoise cardstock.

I have never been to the tropics so I really had a lot of fun making this tropical-inspired card. I sure hope all these cards lift this week's recipient's spirits a bit.

Thank you Anita and Ann for the wonderful challenges and thanks for looking! ~Karen.

Beautiful tropical scene. I felt like I was in Hawaii the moment I saw it. I know Lori will feel transported the moment she opens the envelope. The stenciling, inking and sponging on the beach are perfect. So peaceful. Kudos on your fussy cutting. Aaaaaaah! Grab a drink, sit back and relax.

I love the colors, the layout, and especia5how you layered the flowers and leaves around the corner - it really draws the eye without taking away from the whole card! Great job.
