For this month's Teapotter Tickle: mixed media challenge for which I created a junk journal with a blooming ivy vine on the cover. This was my first time to use the Art Alchemy wax and I am in love. The wax has such a lovely, light texture that feels so good on the finger. Smooshing it on the raised embossing, "aging" the brass corners, highlighting the ivy, burnishing the edges of the book cover-just couldn't stop finding more places to smooth on the goodness.
The interior of the junk journal features pages from my trash basket: inky paper, discarded shopping list, sketches for projects, as well as dictionary pages, salvaged junk mail, torn paper bags, tissue paper. I tucked some surprises into small pockets, tuck spots and flaps. So fun to create, I hope the recipient enjoys exploring and discovering.

So stately on the cover with the ivy vine and the 'thick leather' embossed front. Mrs D would be happy to get her hands on this as well! Wonderful, clever, and fun.

I don’t know much about junk journals, Sonja, this looks so interesting and has the most amazing cover with the texture of the embossing, love the vintage brass corners and the ivy centre!

I guess I have been living under a rock as I have never heard of Junk Journals . . . so after taking a peek at this, I googled you tube videos of this genre to become more informed before commenting. From the vids I watched these seem VERY labor intensive (which was why I never got started in scrapbooking) but I'm betting the finished projects are fun to receive with their bits of ephemera tucked here and there throughout the pages. - This is just lovely with the aged embossed cover - the brass corners add an elegance in counterpoint to the more natural and earthy elements in the leaves, raffia and burlap.
