I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. Susan is our guest hostess and she has a fabulous challenge for us called, "Art Blooms." Susan shares a wonderful art history story that is really interesting as well.
This card took me on an art journey. I started off stamping the poppy and coloring it with copic markers. Try as hard as I might, I could not get the colors to blend. Then I realized I stamped the image onto heavyweight cardstock. The markers just soak into the paper and won't budge, so lesson learned there. I considered starting over, but after taking a break, I decided this bloom was salvageable.
I made quite a few backgrounds for this card before deciding on this brick embossed background. But, it still needed something. I decided a window frame would look nice with this brick background. I love this StampinUp curved die set so I made a frame with it using 2 of the largest dies. Then I cut another panel with just the largest die. I sponged a design onto the panel using yellow inks, but that did not work at all so I flipped the panel over and repeated the sponging with light blue ink and a stencil. Attached the frame onto the sponged panel with glue. Added the flower and leaves with glue and stamped the sentiment.
Thank you Susan for this wonderful challenge today and thank you for looking! ~Karen.

Ooh, that new brick e.f. looks fantastic as a backdrop for that gorgeous blue bloom, Karen. Wonderful stencilling and stamping over it with that sentiment which will be appropriate for the tickle teapotter challenge!

Karen, I am sitting out West here, just smiling at your beautiful work of heart! Looking into that stenciled window with the flower peaking out adds a nice dimension. And that blue poppy! You nailed it by hanging in there. I love it.

I like the way you used that bold bloom to partially wrap around the frame and the white brick wall makes a perfect backdrop for your poppy. Those lacy edged petals are SO attractive.
