For this CAS challenge to Heat Emboss, I pulled out an old stamping technique I learned over a decade ago, a couple old stamps, some old ink pads and even some old embossing powder. Hence the title, This Old Chair.
So this techniques gives a cool watercolor sort of look without watercoloring: Dampen a panel of white paper with water and a brush. Ink up stamp (they recommended an hombre or rainbow inkpad and I have never tried it any other way). Spritz the stamp and stamp a bit off center onto the wet panel. Repeat on the other side. Let fully dry. Stamp the image (they used the same ink) in the center. Do not spritz the stamp for the last impression. You want it to be clear.
I tend to use too much water and sometimes I loose the effect of the image in the background. It's still cool, but I really like when you can see the semblance of the image still. But, if you use too little water/spritz you won't get that watercolor effect either. This was the first time I used Bristol for this. The water ran a lot more than when I have used regular cardstock and I think the colors are probably a bit brighter too. I will probably use Bristol in the future, but it works fine on regular cardstock as well.
On my original version, I embossed the chair image in gold. Unfortunately, so much detail of the image was lost I decided to scrap that one. Typically, I have used the same ink for the final image, but this time I wanted it to really stand out from the background so I went with the dark green. But, I do like the other look as well.
I inked a strip of Bristol (direct ink to paper) and embossed the sentiment in gold. Die cut the stitching. Mounted on a card base. Popped up the sentiment with foam. Done. It's really a lot easier than I think I made it sound, which is why I don't teach. LOL
Hope you are having a dreamy day filled with all the goodness represented in this stamp: Peace, Patience, Kindness, Comfort, Joy, Love, Friendship. TFL.

What a gorgeous card this is Debbie, filled with inspiration too. This watercolor technique is really amazing and oh-so beautiful in the colors you used. I can see the image and words in the water coloring and I love how this softly mirrors the boldly embossed image in the middle. I also love your embossed sentiment. Thank you for sharing how you made this Debbie- this is a truly special card. ~Karen.
