For the MISTI challenge-a card to send to a friend.
Here is the back story on my first layered stamping attempt. I was looking for a different stamp when I came across this beautiful carnation. I am a copic coloring person and I bought this stamp for the lovely floral artwork and never intended to use the layer parts. But, this is MISTI Monday challenge, so doing the layering is perfect, right?
Picked my colors, looked up the layering alignment chart on waffleflower.com, set up the MISTI and stamped the outline. Then aligned the first color-press and peek--EEK! Oh, no, how can that be-I must have missed. There was so much white space. Panic-checked the alignment instructions again and I had it just right but it looked so weird to me.
Well, carry on. Next color-again, the same reaction "I must be doing something dreadfully wrong. This can't be right." But it was just as instructed.
OK, take that final leap of faith a put down the 3rd color. Hmmm, this looks so, well, painterly. Ahh, that is why it looks so strange to me. I am used to coloring "the whole thing, within the lines". This is more of a watercolor, modern, fresh, light "impression".
It took a while for me to get comfortable with it. Matting and arranging helped. I decided to go minimalist, CAS and enjoy the ride.
So, upon reflection, it would have been impossible to trust the process without knowing that the MISTI allowed me to follow the alignment instructions precisely. Who knows, I might try the layering stamps again and let it flow.

Gorgeous card! I love this gorgeous bloom and using the layering stamps does give it a wonderful artsy look. It is nice to have options so you can still use your copic markers on it too. Your colors and this card design are wonderful. ~Karen.
