Yesterday, Jennifer McGuire posted a YouTube video "Faux Embossing Folders (Using Die Cuts)". I'm in love with this technique!
Use a wafer die to cut a piece of magnetic duct cover material on your die cut machine... it will take several passes through and you will need to push all the unwanted pieces out once cut.
To get the impression on cardstock, you may need to experiment with weights of CS (I preferred heavier CS) and the best sandwich for your machine. I used a BigShot and my most satisfactory sandwich: use Tab 1 of the Multipurpose Platform, a plate, a piece of chipboard for a shim, the spellbinders tan embossing mat (squishy thing), CS, diecut magnetic material, last plate.
In the image I posted, I had inked the surface of the diecut magnetic material before laying it over the CS and running through the machine.
I love the letterpress look of this so much that I don't want to detract with any sentiments.
Here's a link to Jennifer's YouTube video with this technique (and loads of additional tips & tricks):

This is a very cool look! I have been looking for the magnetic sheeting and can no longer find it at Home depot where I used to get it. Where do you find it?
