This panel is for 2 challenges...the Alpha challenge BZ = Butterfly Zone and also the Mix challenge...social distancing...2 only.
I've recently acquired some cool stencils and a new stamp that I wanted to give a whirl.
A few years ago on a family trip to Thailand we had a long wait in Singapore airport. It's a really cool airport and whilst wandering we found a room where it's full of butterflies. My DH and I went in to see the butterflies in the evening so a lot were sleeping but our kids and DGC went in when it was daylight. I could imagine how wonderful it would be to walk in there during the day time and have the butterflies flying around and stopping to land on you.
I love butterflies and so I knew when I received my stamp that I wanted to create the image of butterflies on top of people. So out comes the DW silhouette stencil. These are so cool and I think I will be using them a lot.
Old music paper out of my stash was glued onto the gesso primed CS and then various stencils plonked on with gelatos and spray inks either rubbed through the stencil or sprayed. I had tried using a WC brush to add the gelatos but it came out in blobs..whether I had too much water I don't know but you couldn't see the stencils. I found rubbing the gelatos through the stencil worked the best.
Panel dried and the silhouettes added...not 1.5m apart but you get the idea lol. I used 3 colours around them using my brush and then added black at the end.
The butterflies were stamped onto the panel. Next time I will put the silhouettes on first and stamp them and then add my stencils as my BG was so colourful and with more stamping it started to get too messy...now that is something you won't hear me say too often...too much lol.
More cool stamps out of my stash added in black and I went around the edge of the panel with my black crayon doodling lines.
Because I had the silhouettes on music paper you couldn't see all of the butterflies so I went around some of them with my journalling pen adding more using a small butterfly stencil. Next time I will leave out the pen lol.
Not sure what I will do with this panel for now but I had fun.
TFL. Happy day and Easter weekend.

What a fabulous mixed media creation, Jayne! Wonderful colours, stencilling and stamping and I really love the idea of the butterflies landing on the people! You must be thrilled with the end result ~

I could have a holdiay IN the Changi airport, and that was even before they had a butterfly enclosure LOL. I digress Jayne, this is mixed media magic my west coast mate. I love the colours and texture! Stay safe (and cool, wow your weather is as magic as your card).

My first impression was that they were butterfly covered mummies, then I realized they were just covered head to toe with a big mask to keep them safe. LOL.

What a super card this is Jayne to remember your time in the Singapore airport with all of those butterflies and to acknowledge this time of social distancing too. I love all the colors you used on this fun card Jayne and I really love how you added the butterflies over the people. This background is really amazing, and especially to someone like me who is not proficient with mixed media. Fun! ~Karen.

Great Mixed Media challenge. I haven't done one for a while. You are inspiring me to get back to it. Lots of fun colors in your card. I like that in mixed media!
