I first found the rainbow challenge on TGIF Challenge Blog #258, and then later saw the Color Dare challenge, and immediately realized I could create a great card by combining them!
The colors for the rainbow were specifically chosen to match the colors in Color Dare. I had to do some digging through my cardstock supply to find just the right colors. The clouds inside the card were created with the same aqua used in the rainbow. As was the sponging on the two clouds attached to the front of the card,.
I created the "window sheet card" by first making a top folding card base, then cutting a section out of the front for a window., To make sure the card had a stable front, I decided to cut the clear acetate the same size of the card front, then attach the bottom section to the acetate using Scor-Tape. Since I didn't want the back side of the acetate with the tape showing through from the inside of the card, I attached the same size cardstock to the top and bottom of the acetate on the inside.
On the inside of the tape, I had created a cloud template using the long then cloud outline dies in the Stampin' Up! (SU) "Rainbow Builder Framelits Dies", with a piece of 110 lb cardstock, then used a craft sponge to fill the inside entirely with clouds. It is light enough, that I will be able to easily write my personal greeting on the inside.
I was lucky to find sequins in my stash that were the same colors as the rainbow (purple and green). I attached them as "rain drops" under the top cloud using Mini Glue Dots.
The rainbow pieces were attached to the acetate with Scor-Tape. I didn't want to use liquid glue since experience has show it smudges the clear acetate too easily, and you can't get if of the window sheet.
The sentiment is from the SU "Sunshine & Rainbows" stamp set. It fit perfectly on the little cloud at the bottom.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" or "3" out of a possible "5". Having the dies makes all the difference!
