The background is pigment sprinkles on photo paper. I love the effects you can get. I discovered that the photo paper and photopolymer stamps don't get along though. The red rubber stamped just fine but the photopolymer stuck to whatever the coating is on the paper and didn't want to let go. When removing the sentiment stamp it smudged slightly and part of the paper was stuck. I had to fill in the missing parts with a sharpie. Oh well, it's got that handmade touch.

Striking card, love the intensity of color here! I so know what you mean about the stamps sticking to photo paper, it is so fun to play with watercolor powders that I often forget the issue when I go to do my stamping.
