| | I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. Anita is our hostess and she has a wonderful challenge for us called, "Let's Bring the Light" to celebrate Michael who paid it forward in an amazing way.
I started this card by stamping the 2-step water, then stamped the sailboat on the water. Stamped the sailboat again on scrap paper and again on masking paper. Fussy cut the sailboat from the masking paper and placed over the stamped sailboat on the card. Also die cut a circle from masking paper. Used a makeup brush to sponge on Barely banana ink on the horizon line, placed the circle mask close to the horizon, then sponged summer sun ink all around the sun and to the right of the boat. Changed to orange peel ink and continued sponging upwards to the top of the card. Starting at the top of the card sponged mandarin spine ink downwards until it blends with the yellow ink. Then add a little cherry cobbler ink at the very top to deepen the color.
For the sand, sponge antique linen on the bottom of the card in 2-3 layers. Stamped sand stamp over sponging, then stamped the grasses. Keeping the sailboat mask in place, stamp the birds in black ink. Removed sailboat mask.
Color sailboat with copic markers and fussy cut out. Glued sailboat in place over the stamped image.
I really struggled to come up with a suitable masculine card for Michael until I came across this sailboat stamp that was a freebie in issue 43 of Creative Stamping magazine.
Thank you Anita for this wonderful challenge and thank you for looking today. ~Karen. |
