I don't know why I kept battling with this sketch, I already had one card that I couldn't make work with the sketch and veered wildly in another direction instead. The problem is that I don't have anything to cut the shape required and I was staring at it trying to figure out how to measure it out when I realized I could trace the edge of the Spellbinders hexagon die to make the correctly angled point. Thinkin' outside the box...
So I grabbed some scraps of the K&Co collage designer paper I'm obsessed with lately. I had piles of paper on my desk from yesterday's color challenge so I went with those. I traced and cut the shape successfully and decided to die cut that same hexagon to use as the smaller element. I die cut it from a dark rose pink card piece (it photographed much darker than real life, weird because the other colors came out pretty true to life). I punched a scrap of lighter pink card stock with a small hexagon punch and stamped the greeting on it, then attached it to the larger hexagon with foam tape.
I assembled the card on a piece of peachy-melon colored paper but it looked kind of boring and plain so I ran it through an embossing folder of swirls that echoed some of the elements in the designer paper. Then it was too busy looking, so I flipped the peachy-melon piece over and actually used it the "upside down" embossed way, which made it a little more subtle.
So I finally completed the sketch challenge but I'm still not sure I'm happy with the end result! Kinda wishing now I'd inked the edges of the designer paper pieces to make them pop a little more...
Doesn't matter, it's finished and I'm onto the next card! TFL and being patient with my ramblings!
Tagged USEIT2020 because while I HAD TO HAVE the Spellbinders monthly die last June, I had never used them til now!

You know, some days are like that in my craft room too LOL. But you persevered and ended up with a very pretty card! I like all the patterns and using the debossed side of the peach panel is great way to add the design without too much busyness.

Your perseverance paid off - I had to play with some copy paper and all sorts first to make my wedding card and then managed to assemble my 2nd one upside down!!
