A pair of cards for today's challenges and last week's F4A. Fabric? Check! Spring? Check!! Rainbow? Check!!!
When my granddaughter Clare was born, I wanted to make some things for her. I made some sheets and bumpers out of flannel for a vintage cradle and a pennant for her room out of all sorts of fabrics, including a fabric that my Mom used to make curtains for my room when I was born. I had some flannel left over so I cut out the birds from that. The background on the left was done with DOx and a stencil and then, when I saw the nice lines of bright colors on the stencil, I decided to wet some paper and put the stencil on it. Positive and negative! Added a little Wink of Stella to the drops. I punched wings for the birds from some pattern paper and created umbrellas from some vellum and scraps of cardstock. The birds' eyes are just some punches of black paper. Freecut the scallops on the umbrellas. Don't have a scallop die or punch and decided it was just fine.
Clare will be 9 in a week and a half and I think I'll send these cards to her and her sister Mirren. Their school is having a contest to see which class can walk and exercise the most; jumping in puddles is good exercise.

You are so clever Jean....this is really fun utilizing scraps from treasured past projects. I love the positive/negative stenciled bg....super! And I always loved playing in puddles when I was a kid...still love breaking ice when it's in that melting stage ;)

Jumping in puddles sure sounds like a fun thing. Love your vellum umbrellas and you did such a great job on the umbrella scallops. Who needs a die? Not you, that's for sure.

Love those P & N bg's - great way to use every bit of ink that was applied. Flannel for the birds was ingenious - makes for a real reach out and touch me card! (Now I'm imagining yellow flannel for baby chicks on an Easter card - Kids would "pet " those for hours.)

Oh, I bet those flannel birds feel fabulous. Great sentiment. And I think too of the birds that one often sees bathing in puddles along the bath or in rockpools along the shore. I like the softness of the stencil print on the right.
