Bitten By The Bug #2 Challenge - Spring Equinox (https://heather-bittenbythebug2.blog...e-trouble.html) which required the use of a die, punch, or a digital cutting machine and include something with a spring theme.
I chose to use my Brother ScanNCut and a free SVG file I found on the Web of a honeycomb. I had to modify the file to make it larger by duplicating and "welding" three times to get it large enough to cover my main panel. I used Brother Canvas Workspace software to do this.
The honeycomb is digitally cut from Stampin' Up! (SU) So Saffron cardstock. The main panel is SU Crushed Curry cardstock.
I created the bee by die cutting her out twice - once with black cardstock, and a second time with the darker yellow cardstock. I used the pieces from the yellow bee to fit into the black bee, and ensureed they stayed in place by putting a piece of Scor-Tape on the back of the black bee outline.
I wanted her wings to be transparent instead of black outlines, so trimmed off the wings on the black die-cut piece, then stamped the bee onto clear acetate using Stazon ink. The wings really sparkle and shine with lots of texture when you hold the card in your hand.
The sentiment is from SU "Happy Birthday, Everyone" stamp set. I stamped it in black onto white cardstock, then die cut it using a Sizzix die. It is matted using the same black cardstock as the bee.
To finish the card, I adhered the matted sentiment and the bee using adhesive foam tape. The main panel was then matted with black, and glued to the card base.
Using dies and a digital cutting machine made this card come together pretty fast. I am rating the difficulty level as a "3" out of a possible "5".
