I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday challenge. Lisa is our hostess and she has picked a wonderful theme of "Bright Cheery" which is perfect for this time of year and for our lovely young recipient who is stuck in a hospital for long periods of time.
This card also fits the Alphabet Challenge for the letter Z for Zebra.
I received this wonderful PFS stamp and die set for Christmas and I have been anxious to ink this up. When I saw a card like this on the Picket Fence website, I knew it was the perfect card for young RaiLynn. I loved the bright colors and the great design. I added a black mat to my card and I sponged color on and used copic markers rather than watercoloring like the inspiration card. I also added a sentiment to the front of the card. This is a double recessed card front and not layered up card circle panels.
I die cut the recessed mats, then drew a circle onto the card base and sponged color into this circle using a makeup brush and distress inks. Colored the zebra with copic markers and die cut her out, then slipped her into the recessed circle. Added a sentiment that is just perfect for RaiLynn and all she is going through and enduring.
I am so impressed and inspired by young people going through rigorous chemo treatments like RaiLynn is. The side effects to strong chemo are hard to take as an adult, let alone as a young person. I wish RaiLynn the very best as she continues her journey.
Thank you Lisa and Ann for the great challenges, and thanks for looking. ~Karen.

Wonderful card for RaiLynn, Karen. I find it fascinating that someone's act of kindness to gift you with this stamp, spreads out to encourage someone else! Love your idea to sponge colors around your zebra to match the flowers!

Karen, you've created a wonderful, bright and cheery card for RaiLynn. I love the colors you used around the Zebra and in the flowers. Yes, I'm sure you understand what RaiLynn is going through. She has endured several 30 day stays at Rochester. I hope this is the last stay for her and that she her cancer will be gone.
