We've been given wonderful challenges today with the MIX368-Opposites Attract (Color Wheel) and F4A521 Bee Mine. Thanks Dina and Jeanne!
I went vibrant and bold on the color wheel. I've had this wonderful Technique Junkies 'Beautiful Strength' woman for awhile now. I was definitely inspired to do her justice with color. First I colored the yellow accents of her jewelry and head wrap (with 5 shades of yellow Copics). Then I used Brushos 'Purple' shaking a bit of the power on a separate paper. Took a #2 brush and painted her dress. Love the shades in the purple. Her face and makeup were done with Copics.
The background paper is from the BG 'Clippings' group. A lovely mustard color. At the top, I used the Tim Holtz honeycomb corner die cut as a stencil . The Sandi Miller ART thoughts was stamped with VersaFine 'Onyx Black'. A fancy wired edge ribbon in a multi hued violet was cut in half and placed behind the woman.
I chose to put her surrounded by the words ART, soul, and {BE}autiful. Art for your spirit. This card is going out to a member of our community, smadson. I am sending healing thoughts, Sharon.
Thanks for stopping by. On this day, set aside for celebrating love, may you feel an extra measure...I know you'll pass it on.

Wow. Those colours and richness are spot on for some of the ladies I've seen in African churches here, and I always love those head-wrappers. Just tell her not to try playing the bongos without taking her bracelets off first ;-). And what absolutely gorgeous and totally perfect ribbon.

If she goes missing from your gallery, you will find her safely tucked away in My Favs folder. Oh my gosh Susan, this is mixed media magic at its best! I cant stop looking at her, your colouring (and colours) are out of this world.
