 | | For Jean's TLC781 Origami Leaf challenge. I was delighted to see it, as I'd been keen to try this since Dina posted the tutorial. I did try mine with her measurements originally, but I wanted something flatter, so I started again with another 3" square cut in half and scored at 1/8" intervals. It was harder to fold, but could be done with patience. (A lot less than was required, I am sure, for the tiny origami crane earrings I bought at a market!). I pulled out a leftover background from my tone-on-tone stencilling challenge - it was square, so from the offcut I cut a grass border and edged it with a silver pen.
The flower is assorted DOX smooshed onto a random piece of glossy photo paper that was left on my desk. I cut the larger one twice, popping the upper one up on foam and adding a button in the centre.
Plenty of messing around to get a stem I liked. Crocheted raffia, no...in the end I concertina-folded a bit of the same background card, swiped it with Pine Needles and then opened it out again.
The frame was cut from a piece of Bazzill Bling which had been embossed with stars, and it's popped up on foam too.
The butterfly is a leftover from a Vellum WTUI challenge - it's one of my butterflies stamped in white on vellum, embossed, coloured from behind with Sharpies, and then with Stickles on the front. The butterfly, I'm fairly sure, is Perched on Lace from Penny Black.
A nice bit of sunshine on a crazy weather day - it started pelted wet snow just before I got off the bus, and in the 5 minute walk to the house I got totally drenched. |
